Updated bedroom

We have only had a few bedroom sets in all of our moves and houses and redecorating projects. We had our prior set (a large, dark, basic craftsman style) for over 20 years. It didn’t really bother us, but it just seemed kind of bulky and was getting pretty beat up from dog nails clawing up the footboard. It was time for a change!

We go only three places for furniture: Ennis, which is our local Stickley dealer, a brand we always love. Often pricey. All of our favorite pieces including our entire living room, are Stickley.

For our dining set (which includes light colored upholstered chairs) we only buy from the local cheap Ashley-style store (not actually sure what it is called.) This is because we like very light, easy to move around chairs that are also regularly (and cheaply) replaced thanks to cat claw damage. Just not worth the good stuff, and we don’t have to worry about it. Maybe someday in a cat-less world we might consider upgrading

Our favorite place to buy furniture has always been the local consignment store. Over the years (at various locations) we love used furniture. We buy it, we sell it.

So we liked this light-colored, simple, solid wood set made by a small outfit in Oregon that we picked up at the consignment store. I’m sure it doesn’t come through as an earth-shattering improvement in these pictures, and (as usual) I have no Before photos. But the room is a lot more open and comfy all around, and it matches the rest of the house nicely, which is important with our open floor plan.

We did end up purchasing the Stickley mirror over the dresser, getting a great price for that at Ennis. Next up (next week): Installing a slat wall system (like Montana and Elijah built) in our closet.
