Antiquing (& eating) in Snohomish

We took a quick jaunt in the camper van over through the Lower Cascades Loop to a little town called Snohomish, which has a nice downtown and a bunch of fun antique and other shops and restaurants.

We arrived at our RV park (in nearby Sultan) after 9pm and were amazed to find the park had its own bistro right near our spot. And it was still open! So we enjoyed a freshly squeezed margarita and a nice cold beer when we arrived, relaxing outside on their party light-encircled patio, and had some top-notch lattes and homemade breakfast items to start out the next day. Five stars all around!

We loved historic Snohomish. Beautiful little downtown with lots of well-hydrated humidity-happy West-side flowers, the envy of our East-side desert landscape.

It was fun to antique shop their historic downtown knowing we had the van and were heading home that evening, so if we had wanted to, we could have bought almost ANYthing. So of course we bought nothing big, but we came home with a weird assortment of: vases, bowls, books, an LL Bean plaid shirt, a folding fan, more books, a rusty Sanka coffee can, a cherry-patterned vintage doily, as well as a few cassette tapes for our off-line camper stereo. Sounds about right!

Recharged with a leisurely lunch on the patio at a sweet restaurant in an old Victorian house. They open with their signature item, warm scones, served with homemade raspberry jam that was AMAZING. I wouldn’t let her take the empty plate. Steve conspired with the waitress to secretly buy a container of the preserves to take home - if you tasted this stuff you would agree it might just be the best gift ever.

Steve even got his comfort food entree - prime rib stroganoff. Snohomish, we will be back!

On our way out of town we swung by Everett, WA, to visit the headquarters of Funko, the second-to-last company Steve worked for. They make pop culture collectibles, notably their big-headed versions of licensed characters. Their retail store was like visiting a theme park. Really unique and fun. Solid diversion, and I’m glad to see a little more of where Steve used to work. Those were the days!

Always a lot of pink in the Washington sunsets these days, thanks to the inevitable wildfires.
