Sunflowers fading, but still beautiful

It’s that time of year when we start pulling out spent flower and vegetable plants, and dibbying them up between the goats, chickens, and compost. Last year I was quite lazy, and I ended up leave way too much clean-up work un-done. That might have created a lovely winter habitat for the local birdlife, but it also created a huge mess for me (and double the work) in the spring.

So I am very focused on staying on top of it this year. I stopped to admire the spent sunflowers while I was outside today. It will be a little while before I can completely pull these out, they are actually really pretty at this stage.
