Snow plow date
I was so sad to miss the first snowplowing of the season last month, but I wasn’t going to let that happen a second time!
Plowing the driveway is one of the funnest winter activities we get to do. I know, some people ski and snowboard for winter excitement - we take out Big Red with the blade in front and have a blast.
We sat around all Sunday morning waiting for the snow to stop so we could get started!
Big Red all bladed up for winter! Steve added those lights on the front bar which REALLY help doing late-night chores.
Thankfully before the end of October we put up a million reflectors to protect our cute curbs. They seemed kind of stupid for a few months when there was zero snow, but today they are very handy.
A quick shout-out to the shop roof snow guards, absolutely doing their job. You can tell because there is no snow build-up under the eaves/in front of the doors. Contrast that to the next 3 pictures of what has fallen/built up along the back side of the roof.
This is what we used to have in front of the shop, what a pain to have to clear!
Another quick shout-out to the snow dogs.
Especially this one!
Josie loves the snow so much, she just rolls around in it in delight.
The plowers get to work! We honestly LOVE this chore and wish it would snow every day so we could plow all the time. It’s quite fun!
The goats are always interested.
The blade can be angled, but that is controlled manually. So for certain spots Steve hops out and realigns the blade.
This is the down (OUT) and up (IN) control button - this is what I am allowed to operate as co-pilot.
My father asked about how we avoid scraping the gravel. The blade has little “feet”, so when the blade is all the way down, the feet prevent the blade from digging in too far.
Of course, every once in awhile I still drop the blade a little too low.
Steve finishes up with the snow blower.
A beautiful day in the neighborhood!
