Sleeping amongst the redwoods & heading back up the coast

We arrived to our campground in the dark, grabbed some quick showers, and ended up falling asleep to our movie. Then it rained all night (kind of cool pitter-patter). So it wasn’t until we leisurely got up around 9am that we realized just how beautiful our campground was. Steve had promised me I could drink my morning coffee amongst the redwoods, rain or shine. With more rain forecast, we assumed it would be “rain”. But amazingly the rain stopped, so we got to walk around the little park (5 stars!) and have a great drive back up the Samuel Boardman Scenic Byway to check out a few more of the sites. We even got a little sun and blue skies when we went driftwood foraging on one of the beaches.

Peanut butter oatmeal and coffee for me!

Josie really loves sleeping in.

Just a really terrific campground with full hookups. Usually you have to sacrifice the convenience of hookups for wooded, private sites. (Though in the camper van we have water and electric and a black tank even when unhooked.) But this place had it all!

Do you know about banana slugs? This large, slimy little creature is important to the redwoods ecosystem. And Steve even found one behind our camper!

On the road again, heading north. We noticed our awning is apparently taking some of the redwood forest with us.

Tried to get a good shot of the tallest bridge in Oregon, but Steve wouldn’t stand on the dangerous log to capture its full span.

Soggy dunes with thunderstorms forming in the distance.

Another surprise appearance of the sun - unexpected!

And is it just a coincidence that we ended up in front of the Langlois Market again right at lunchtime? I’m getting a little suspicious. Except this time we didn’t just buy a few dogs for lunch - we also brought home an entire pack of the dogs for later!
