Avenue of the Giants
While we were heading south on US-101, we decided to push it a bit, despite some rain and impending darkness, and drive the Avenue of the Giants. We are glad we did! This scenic drive rivals any of the many drives we have taken. My photos do not do it justice. Plus the darkness made it even cooler as we drove the curvy, tunnel-like road.
We didn’t make it quite to the end before turning around to get back to our campsite, though we did get to squeeze in one more incredible hike in the quickly darkening Founders Grove. We had the entire forest to ourselves!
Steve finally made me put my phone away, because it was getting a lot darker than the photos indicate, and we were starting to worry we’d have to spend the night in the the rain curled up in the trunk of a giant redwood if we didn’t pick up the pace and find the way back to the camper.
And wouldn’t you know it, but In-N-Out Burger was on our way back. Yet another thing we can’t get in Spokane - so messy, but worth it!
