Why are we all awake in the 5’s?

Our new pellet stove is on a timed thermostat, so it typically doesn’t run much overnight (unless it’s REALLY cold out, which it hasn’t been lately.)

But between 5:30 and 6:00 in the morning, it REALLY kicks in! It is such an enticement to get out of bed, turn on the Christmas tree lights, and curl up in front of a literally ROARing fire with a fleece blanket, lap cat, and the first coffee of the day.

We should be sleeping! But I swear this is even better. We have a rule that last one out of bed has to make it, and you should see us both jump out when the stove wakes up, partially to enjoy that fiery automatic start-up, but partially also to avoid the 45-second chore of bed-making.
