Welcome, bats!

Elijah noticed some bats in the apple tree by the goat shed. It’s a small tree, but we couldn’t figure out exactly where they were hanging out (literally 😊). Bats are sneaky about squeezing into small, hard-t0-see spaces.

So we decided to give them a proper habitat. A Big Bat Barn, of course. Montana found this on Amazon - who could resist?

Josie, the goats, and Bigfoot all approve of this south-facing location. The box will fade faster here, but it will also soak in more of the winter sun to keep them cozy.

There are three chambers in this model, and the underhang is grooved, which allows them to climb their way up and in. What happens beyond that is the bats’ business!

“OPEN” - I mean, come on, so cute.

The job is done, but Josie still wants to soak up the sun, even though it’s not even noon and it is already HOT!
