The vision is slowly materializing

Boy, a dramatic paint color change is not for the faint of heart!

Despite truly DESPISING our original paint color (literally could not be worse), completely changing the color scheme with a pretty severe monochromatic palette has been nerve-wracking. It really is an unusually shaped and detailed house, and it is taking our crazy design perfectly as planned. But step by step I have not been entirely sure until they started working on the porch.

Finally I am starting to see the front vision take shape. Over the next few days they will start wrapping the front 6 lower and upper posts in cedar and staining them as well as the rails and deck. I believe they are bringing stain samples this afternoon, which will create a not-so-easy choice that might end up involving several colors. The old wood on the rails vs the porch deck vs the new cedar are all very different woods that will take color completely differently. So that should be fun, yay, more choices!

I also think they are painting all of the door sets today (an even darker, almost black, gray). Thank God - we have always hated our fakey orangeish wood-look-attempted treatment on these doors.

Today is Tuesday- Steve and I are sneaking away to an undisclosed fishing destination in Montana on Thursday-Friday for our anniversary. I don’t think they will finish the job while we are gone, but it will probably be close. They still have to build our new wider front stairs with railings, which will really be the finishing touch.
