The Icefields Parkway

The glaciers at Glacier National Park are just a few small spots of snow that require binoculars to see. The drive through Jasper and Banff on the Icefields Parkway was nonstop giant, deep, close glacier formations, dozens and dozens and dozens. Our jaws were in a constant state of Drop all day. We kept saying, “Wow!” over and over, often at the same time, and sometimes we weren’t even talking about the same thing in our field of view.

I was exhausted from taking pictures, the beauty and uniqueness was overwhelming. The driving was super easy for Steve, because the road did not go up and down mountains and was wide with great shoulders and lots of passing lanes. And very little traffic!

Every snowy bend of the road was a new surprise. Again, these photos did not do it justice!

The glaciers were on the west side of the Parkway. The snowless rock formations on the sunnier east side were equally impressive!

We tried to take Josie with us on as many of our excursions as possible, but sometimes we leave her in the van while we check something out. It wasn’t that hot on this trip, but we still leave the front and side windows open and sometimes the roof fan running, too. We can also leave the AC unit running without the engine if we want/need.

But even if we are just gone for a few minutes, she takes over the front seats waiting for us (really for Steve.) She is the most excellent little traveler!

All in all, exceeded expectations - this was a day to remember!
