Just one more vacation post
I was not intending on taking ANY MORE photos during our last few days of vacation, as we explored some of the cities in southeastern British Columbia (specifically ones starting with the letter K who also have WHL hockey teams, Go Chiefs!) But sometimes special meals must be recorded anyway.
Steve really wanted to go out to dinner on our last night out, where we happened to be in Kelowna, BC. While the van drives just fine in city traffic, sometimes finding parking can be tricky. And we do hate to leave JoJo in the car too long. Plus despite those wonderful RV park showers and laundry facilities, by this time in a trip we are all looking a little suspect.
But we found a wonderful cidery (like a brewery) with all sorts of dog-friendly outdoor seating areas, just down the road from our campground and across the highway from an airport (for Steve’s entertainment.) Perfect, relaxing dinner out! And amazing wood-fired thin crust pizza, too. Josie loves those pizza bones.
And then to fully cap off our time in Canada, we found a DeDutch restaurant for breakfast! This chain has been an obsession of ours since we visited Vancouver about 10 years ago. DeDutch serves a wide variety of pannekoeken, or giant Dutch-style pancakes, thicker than crepes but thinner than pancakes, with all sorts of savory and sweet options. I had a pierogi style, with onions, potatoes, and Canadian bacon (“debakon”) cooked inside and cheddar cheese and sour cream on top. The only franchise I seriously would love to bring to the US!
And one FINAL camping pic that really captures how it feels at the end of a trip: our van looking very Clampett-like with wet towels hanging on a line strung over the front seats. Time to get home and do that laundry!
