Our private anniversary getaway

Well, not completely private, because, of course, Josie is here with us. But we booked a solo campsite at a little place in Central Washington called Earthlight, and it is amazing. They have 4 cabins and then this one campsite. To say the road up here was treacherous would be only the slightest of overstatement. Steve almost bailed out several times.

But when you make it here, it’s just like a little mountaintop all to ourselves. We are way up on a hillside overlooking the mighty Columbia River. We could not decide which direction to set up because all directions are gorgeous. The winds today (the entire drive and also up here) are fierce! Glad we are not tent camping.

So here we are set, two days of doing absolutely nothing, going nowhere. The Best of Kansas circa 1979 playing on the stereo, a collection of DVDs for movie time, our indoor kitchen and outdoor propane stove to cook hamburgers, steaks, and corn beef hash for breakfast, our cute little bathroom, and even 5G cell service.

Here’s a little tour of the campsite starting with the gravel road we will take when we leave.

I have to admit I found the most stinking cute camp rug, as seen on an Instagram page.

Our nice white storage box got a serious dusting on the drive up here! Luckily we have a hose to rinse that off.

The sunset did not disappoint!

Sorry, no fires this time of year in the northwest. Also there’s those 40mph wind gusts!
