I know it’s only been a week and a half…

… since I photographed the garden. Is it too early to post again? Probably, but I don’t care! This is my absolute favorite time of the year. A few more weeks and everything will be much more photo-worthy, but right now I just sit in and roam around the garden and marvel at how everything grows!

Stunner!

Montana and I have fallen in love with these bachelor buttons - they’ve pushed zinnias out of the top spot in my favorite flower list.

While I was cleaning out the garden shed I found two of these telescoping light bed covers. The fabric allows light and water in, but this time of year helps the lettuces from getting too much sun. Experiment!

Here’s what it looks like under the covers.

Strawberries are still looking good! The strawberry fields by us are all picked out by now - they are earlier breeds. But ours is obviously a later variety, because they are still going strong. I probably should have put one of those lettuce covers over this bed so the birds don’t steal them all before we can get them.

Morning glories are starting to make the climb up the trellises.

More bachelor buttons.

Sunflowers coming along in the far left row.

Steve’s sheriff’s car making the photo. He ended up taking it out this afternoon (and evening) for a very long stint helping with traffic control for a pretty big fire.

Josie and the Garden Goose, both so cute. But that pink buckwheat plant steals the show.

I also took a few Birds Eye shots of the garden from Steve’s loft porch. This time of year you can really see the “access drive” route that we use to deliver water to/from this area. It is actually an original driveway from when there was a double wide trailer in the spot now occupied by the horseshoe pit. There’s a ton of gravel still in the grass marking it. And now with everything drying out, the truck and Big Red tires leave their semi-permanent mark.
