After passing through Boise (a wonderfully vibrant town that we need to fly back to for a city weekend sometime), and having another picnic in the van with The BeeGees, we stopped by Shoshone Falls (during high water this time vs last time we were there it was practically dry) en route to the amazing Craters of the Moon National Monument. What an amazing place! An ocean of lava flows as far as the eye can see. It looks like the earth has been dug up by a massive tractor, but it is just all volcanic rocks. Though these eruptions were much younger than yesterday’s 45 million year old rocks (these were only 2,500 years ago.)
Steve dared to break federal law and took home a sample. We had the place practically to ourselves, and while the wind was fierce, we still took a few walkabouts. Very cool!
