It’s dirty work, but someone’s got to do it

Happy 4th of July! 🇺🇸🍒🥧

We celebrated this lazy Friday holiday by mowing the “lawn”. The double quotes are fitting, because this is the time of year when it has been dry for awhile, and the grass-less dirt is really starting to show! The voles are also doing their part, ensuring that every stretch includes numerous vole dirt pile villages, allowing for the maximum flying dirt possible. See photo below of Steve zipping by in the fancy zero-turn machine.

The good news from all of this ingested dust is that it is probably the last time we have to mow for awhile.

The result may not be mistaken for a golf course any time soon, but it was worth the effort and mess.

Montana and Elijah had the right idea when they got out of town to hit the lake in their new kayaks!

Also in honor of the holiday, I made the mandatory cherry pie. Again, not much to look at, but I promise you, it was delicious!
