Hibiscus magic
I consider myself an avid gardener, but I do NOT attempt to grow houseplants. The greenery tucked into my bookshelves and lamp tables are strictly artificial ala Target.
The one exception is our hibiscus plant. Or is it really a tree? I purchased this beauty in spring 2024 from my friends at the Master Gardener Foundation Plant Sale. I lead the Foundation’s strategic planning retreat each summer, really great folks and cause!
This first photo is from when we first got it. As you can see, since then it has really grown. This variety of hibiscus is not winter hardy up here, so it lives along the wall of windows by my reading nook year-round. Recently it was losing too many leaves, which appears to be a sign of lack of water, even though Steve gives it a pitcher almost everyday. So he added a bit of fertilizer to give it a little boost, and bam! From 1-2 blooms at a time to a whole bevy of blooms! I guess maybe we should have been feeding it this extra treat all along!
I could not resist taking a whole set of repetitive photos- it really is a stunning, healthy indoor plant.
