Fiery sunset

There I was, cozied up under a fleece blanket on the couch watching football when I suddenly realized the sky was on fire right before my eyes! This is literally the view from my seat - how could I have possibly almost missed this?

The sky started out with a small rainbow segment to the left of Mt. Spokane and golden light across the ridge.

As the rainbow faded the sky started changing from orange to pink in a matter of minutes.

Since the sunset was actually happening on the other side of the house, I figured I better go out front and check it out. I was not disappointed!

This was an unexpected ending to one of the grayest, most colorless fall days yet!
