Enjoying greater Calgary

We have talked about going to Calgary since we lived in Michigan, I think. We always wanted to go to the big Calgary Stampede rodeo. And then they hosted the Winter Olympics. But somehow we never quite made it there on all of our trips across the border.

After getting smoked out of the Icefields yesterday, we pulled into our little RV community in Cochrane, AB, and instantly both said Ahhhhhhh. It was so relaxing, a wonderful wooded, well-maintained park along the Bow River. The entire riverfront path was an off-leash dog area, so Josie got to run with the big dogs! Plus when you are surrounded by dog lovers, it’s just a nice vibe.

Steve and I just chilled with a cold drink. We had a thunderstorm that evening, which is always so fun and cozy in the campervan.

I was particularly happy to see Steve eating oranges out of my hand-carved Alberta fruit bowl!

Her form was great, except point off for completely neglecting to actually PICK UP and return the ball. Our van in the background.

We grabbed bunch in town and then went to an antique store in nearby Fort Bragg, and this little deer was just hanging out by the front door looking like a statue.

Then we headed down for a little shot of nature and geography at Elbow Falls en route to Calgary.

Steve on the phone with Montana while we wait for our Boogie burger, a quirky Calgary institution since 1969. A hose was accidentally left on overnight, running the cistern completely out of water, so Montana had to hop in the truck and learn how to pick up and deposit a load of water the hard way on her own!!!

One more walk along the river, and then a campsite fire using a pretty cool fire log. Drilled in the center with an air hole drilled in the front - no big flames, but a nice, tidy little solution!
