Eagle watching on the lake

Beautiful Lake Coeur d’Alene, just over the Idaho border, is prime eagle watching this time of year. The birds are attracted to the abundant Kokane salmon that are available. We often drive up to one of the bays and scour the trees. This year we decided to take a cruise out on the lake to get an even better view.

We were treated to over a hundred eagles! Their little white heads dot the trees. The camera on my phone can only go to 10x, so it’s pretty tough to make out much more than the little white dots. But in our binoculars, the view was perfect.

The water and clouds were also picturesque. It was chilly up on deck, but dry and not windy at all. We just miss the fact that our favorite nearby CdA restaurant, the Wolf Lodge Steakhouse, burned down a few years ago, because that was our favorite companion activity to eagle watching.
