Another piece of the wool process
Elijah’s birthday present for Montana finally arrived - the wool picker! It is a gorgeous crafter wooden item, handmade in Kentucky, and it completes Montana’s wool processing factory.
It has spikes under a sliding handle and along the base that she pushes back and forth. This step allows her to break up matted wool fresh from the shearing. It turns it into fluffy clumps that are pushed out the back and that can then be carded into mats that can be fed into a spinning wheel.
She gave it an inaugural test drive - very cool little wool torture device!
The matted curls are laid along the bottom.
Back and forth, the teeth “comb” it out. Any little sticks/dirt drop through the base.
And voila! Fluffly whisps of Sammy wool comes out the other end!
