Another first day of school
I can hardly believe that I have been in an academic career for 15 years! This is way longer than I have done anything before.
I started teaching mid-year in January 2010 at Brenau in concert with my doctoral program. This will be my twelfth year teaching at Whitworth. So much has changed during that time, what an incredible life journey!
And while I primarily teach graduate and adult ed strategy courses these days (which aren’t even held on this main campus), I still love the flow of the traditional academic year. Start up energy is exciting and youthful and full of hope.
I purposely parked on the far side of campus this morning (which, of course, isn’t that far at a little college!) to enjoy my peaceful, gorgeous campus, before most of the students start their first classes. According to my master plan I only have seven more of these moments to enjoy, so I am!
Notice the flowering baskets, the same ones I have hanging on our porch. They hang two back-to-back on light poles all over campus.
The Whitworth campus is so pristine. I can’t believe how beautiful everything looks all year round, especially given budget cuts over the past few years that halved the size of our grounds crew. They are the best!
My building!
