Whew, talk about windy!

Coming from Nebraska, it takes a lot of wind to impress us. Boy, we experienced a doozy of a windstorm early this morning! Actually, it’s still going on now, but the big gusts of up to 60 mph were in the wee hours of the morning. The good news is that most of the leaves were already off of the trees, so we didn’t see limbs coming down (which we normally do with our ancient old apple trees.)

We expected the items on the porch to take quite a beating, which they did. Steve took the flag down, which was probably good. I also brought in the Porch Goose, of course - you have to protect your precious belongings. Furniture was pushed all the way around to the side porch and who knows where all of the cushions ended up.

The real excitement was out in the garden. Both of the cattle panel trellises that lived between our raised bed boxes blew away. That was crazy to see! It took me a minute to realize what had happened. It doesn’t seem like they have enough surface area to really catch the wind, but I guess the leftover vines created enough of a sail. No real “damage” there, though, we just have to put them back in place.

But we can’t say the same for our poor garden shed. The wind pushed it over completely, taking down the fence netting behind it, of course. We also had some cattle panels laying against a side fence post just to the right of the shed - the winds were so strong they actually sheared one of the fence posts completely off! So we have a bit of clean-up work to do there before the weather turns cold again.

Usually we only see those wind symbols when we are looking at the Mustang, OK weather forecast!

Where did all of my furniture go?

Oh, there it is, around the corner.

This chair was sitting to the right of the beehive behind the greenhouse. Looks like a gust somehow picked it up and deposited it here.

Oh dear, that is the bottom of our garden shed. Interesting to see some of the critter tunnels they have dug into the foundational sand.

Big of a mess we have here.

Cattle panel trellises are not quite in the correct positions.

The cattle panels to the left in this photo are what pushed against this fence post and took it off completely.

Everything pushed over at the nearby firepit.

Amazingly, the giant wreath escaped unscathed!
