Hello, Pacific Ocean!

Before we hit the redwoods, we hit the beautiful southern Oregon coastline. We have driven most of the coast on other trips, but now we have filled in the rest. It was a beautiful cloudy, fall PNW day. Amazingly, it did not rain at all, and we even saw the sun peek her head out now and then.

We tried to tuck into as many overlooks as possible and also squeezed in a few terrific hikes.

We had to stop at a little deli/market in tiny Langlois, OR, probably population 13. They are known for having amazing hot dogs, and they did not disappoint. The mustard they used had a sweet flavor almost like coleslaw sauce, and the sweet pickles were perfect. No Chicago dogs here!

One of the hikes we took along the coastal ridge went through an old-growth forest where the path was literally a tunnel through the greenery. Then we would pop out now and then at so many beautiful overlooks.

We decided not to go all the way down to the beach today because “moderately difficult 3-mile hikes with steep ascents upon return that may be treacherous when muddy” are not quite our thing.

But the roads and parking areas were nice and quiet so we got to go at our preferred leisurely pace and spend as much time as we wanted looking at the big rocks and listening to the big Pacific waves.

Then it’s nachos and movies in the camper!
