Perfect lazy anniversary day
37 years, oh my! We don’t necessarily always do something special for our anniversary, but we have had some memorable ones, and this one will go on that list. We enjoyed the most leisurely anniversary ever in our little mountaintop camper van.
We started our special day in the night, watching a movie and the sunset and then heading outside to stand in the dark at midnight experiencing the incredible breeze, looking at the moonlit clouds above and the river lights below.
Even though our secluded spot did not require us to cover our windows for privacy, we did it so that it would be nice and dark so we could sleep in. After a few cups of coffee, Steve cooked us up a proper holiday breakfast feast.
Josie is looking so innocent sitting on our unmade bed in the picture below. Only minutes later she managed to quietly (really covertly, as she attempted to cover up the evidence) throw up her breakfast, taking out our top sheet in the process. We are only minimally set up for major animal messes, but we leveraged the breeze and aired everything out.
So much reading to catch up on. I’m reading Clymenestra, from the Greek mythology retellings collection I have accumulated since reading Circe a few years ago. Steve has a few magazines and several books, one of which was about viruses, consistent with his own collection of books on natural and man made disasters. I will admit the section on stripes on tulips being caused by a virus was actually pretty interesting.
The boys are really relaxing here after our lunch, which we decided would consist solely of ice cream bars.
They have a little swing hanging from one of the trees, overlooking the river.
Afternoon matinee with optional nap time.
No matter how many days we could be hear, I wouldn’t be able to stop myself from taking the same photos of this incredible view over and over!
Same division of labor on the road as at home: Steve cooks and I clean up. Steak and asparagus with Hollandaise sauce. Happy anniversary to us!
