Lavender bath sachets
Yet another herbal project that involves herbs, funnels, little containers, and cute labels!
Using some of the dried lavender buds and rose petals, I created some bath sachets. With the herbs alone, the fragrance was underwhelming. After some research I found out that if I want real scent I need to “cheat” - adding in a (non-food grade) tapioca powder that can be used to absorb some essential oil before being added to the little sachet bags. I say “cheating”, because it basically means that those beautiful, freeze-dried scented flower buds and petals basically do nothing. It’s only the essential oil-doused tapioca powder that makes the scent. Which, to me, kind of defeats the purpose of having the beautiful dried herbs in the first place!
So I proceeded with making a few and putting them in my cute bathtub container (and they did smell lovely in the bath), but I’m on the fence as to whether I will make more. I might take the tapioca starch and see if I can safely use it and essential oil to add to epsom salts without turning my bathtub into something toxic. More experiments ahead!
