Happiest 38!
We are continuing our tradition of just hunkering down in the camper van in the middle of nowhere for a few days, doing absolutely nothing, to celebrate our anniversary.
This year Steve took us to an amazing fly fishing river in Montana. No reservations, just found a National Forest campground along the river and stopped for the night. It was a wonderful, secluded piece of nowhere. Fishing on tap for tomorrow for Steve - I’ll be working on one of my mini National Parks cross-stitch projects by the van with Josie at my side.
Of course I broke out my amazing hand-knotted YellowLeaf hammock chair - This thing is so cool, I should just set it up in the living room! We had our beloved StarLink mobile with us so we could stream classic 80’s Gerry Rafferty music to our Glowtive speaker/lantern. Appetizers of wheat crackers with whipped cream cheese and fig jam and sweet chili sauce, followed by the camping classic, steak with HP sauce picked up in Canada last summer and asparagus on the grill. We even had tiny bottles of one of the wines from our wedding dinner. Don’t tell Steve, but there are some mini cream puffs in the freezer for dessert. No, as you can see, we do NOT rough it around here!
We some played Siamese mahjong (each person plays two hands simultaneously) with the world’s most adorable set of travel-sized tiles with a cowboy motive.
What a way to celebrate 38 years of the funnest adventures together. More time, please!
We came across a herd of bighorn sheep as we were following the river!
And I must also call out the super cute vintage “bee hive” salt and pepper shakers we picked up while antiquing by Mount Rainier last week. It’s the little things in life!
