Give us this day…
Yesterday we sliced our butter, and Steve also picked up his bulk grain order (though now I’m pretty sure we’ve joined a MLM cult in the process, it’s easier to do up here than you’d think). So I found him at his baking station this morning earning his keep! I’m just fascinated with his process.
I love the way it just turned out this cross stitch hangs above what became Steve’s baking station.
This is what Steve uses for bread. He has another grain that he will use for pasta, but that’s for another day.
If you can believe it, this is Steve’s bread recipe. It started as our neighbor’s handwritten notes from a workshop he led at our grange two years ago. I added comments throughout his presentation, and then Steve added more comments based on his experiments and sizing for a single loaf. I’m afraid to rewrite it, for fear it might lose some of its magic.
Okay - now where is that butter?
