6-7pm garden

Why am I so compelled to visit the garden just as the sun is starting to go down behind the trees? Especially when I have spent most of the day out there? Even on a cloudy, rainy day like today, before I lose that sun I have to check out the plants and the skies. The light appears and disappears quickly, so I typically only have a few minutes to highlight what I can. And sometimes I turn around and the light looks completely different than it did only a few minutes ago. I’ll post a set of photos in the order in which they were taken, between 6 and 7pm.

More cosmos next year!

Most of the morning glory have run their course, but these blossoms are right on the top of the trellis and still going strong.

We love these “surprise” beans (that I forgot I planted near one of the trellises) so much this year that Montana and I decided to add another trellis on the other side of the grapes next year that will only grow vine vegetables. Steve, break out the tiller!

The kids’ pepper bed is still going nuts, even after we have picked so many of all varieties!

Go calendulas (marigolds)!

These are the little berries that grow on the asparagus ferns.

Hanging baskets still doing just that. We are already two days past the average first frost date for Spokane, so they could go brown any day now - enjoying them while we can!

Too many cool flag shots to choose from.

Do NOT eat my extension cord, Walker!
